0% VAT on domestic installations — air conditioning is classed as an air source heat pump

Home Air Conditioning Explained

A modern air conditioning unit is a heat pump — one compact system that heats and cools your home from a single wall-mounted unit. It replaces portable fans, space heaters and dehumidifiers in one go. Cooling a bedroom overnight costs around 10–15p, and in winter it heats more cheaply than gas because it runs at 400% efficiency — 4kW of output for every 1kW of electricity. All domestic installations qualify for 0% VAT.

Beyond temperature, these systems continuously filter the air — removing dust, pollen and allergens — so you breathe cleaner air all day. At night, units drop to just 19dB with a dedicated sleep mode that dims the display and slows the fan, giving you deeper, uninterrupted sleep even on the hottest nights.

Low upfront cost, low running costs, cleaner air, better sleep — and a single system that does it all year round. Most installations are completed in a day.

The Right System for Every Room

Every space has different demands — we size and position each unit for the best results

Bedrooms

Ultra-quiet 19dB units with night mode that reduces fan speed and dims the display. Sleep comfortably through the hottest summer nights without any noise disturbance.

Living Rooms

Wall-mounted or ceiling cassette units sized to cover large open areas evenly. No cold draughts, no hot spots — just consistent comfort for the whole family.

Home Offices

Maintain 20–22°C all day without opening windows or running noisy fans. Stay productive during video calls and focused through the afternoon heat.

Kitchens

Counteract the heat from ovens and hobs while maintaining good air quality. Modern units handle the extra heat load that extraction fans alone can't manage.

Loft Conversions

Lofts trap heat in summer and lose it in winter. Air conditioning is often the only way to make a converted loft liveable year-round, especially with limited ventilation.

Open-Plan Spaces

Large open areas need careful BTU calculations and airflow planning. We position units for even coverage across the full space without creating cold zones.

Conservatories & Garden Rooms

Our most popular domestic installations — we turn unusable spaces into comfortable rooms you'll use all year

Popular Choice

Conservatory Cooling

Conservatories overheat in summer and freeze in winter due to the glass. Air conditioning solves both problems, turning your conservatory into a genuine living space rather than seasonal storage.

  • Eliminates the greenhouse effect from large glass areas
  • Heats efficiently in winter without running the main boiler
  • Reduces condensation and humidity issues
  • Compact units that blend with any interior
Quick Install

Garden Room Climate Control

Garden offices, studios and outbuildings are our quickest installations. External wall access makes fitting straightforward — most are completed in half a day with no mess inside your main home.

  • Essential for anyone working from home full-time
  • External access keeps installation simple and fast
  • Single-room systems are the most cost-effective option
  • Year-round use instead of just spring and autumn

Thanks to Rob and his team who were a pleasure to deal with from start to finish. We had an air conditioning unit installed at home and they quickly came up with a plan of where was best to have it positioned. It all looks very neat and tidy.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does home air conditioning cost?

A single-room system typically starts from £1,500–£3,500 fully installed. Multi-room systems vary depending on the number of indoor units and the complexity of the pipework. We provide free, no-obligation quotes with transparent pricing — no hidden extras.

How long does a domestic installation take?

Most single-room installations are completed in one day. Garden rooms often take just half a day. Multi-room systems typically require 1–2 days depending on complexity and pipework routing.

Is it expensive to run?

Modern inverter systems are remarkably efficient — running costs for cooling a bedroom overnight are typically 10–15p. Used for heating, they're often cheaper than gas central heating because they deliver 4kW of heat for every 1kW of electricity used.

Does it heat as well as cool?

Yes. Every system we install is a heat pump that provides both heating and cooling from a single unit. Many customers use them as their primary heat source in winter — they're more efficient than gas boilers.

What brands do you install?

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Hitachi, Toshiba and Fujitsu. As an official MHI 3 Diamond Dealer — one of only a handful in the UK — we can offer extended warranties of up to 7 years on selected systems.

Can I get 0% VAT on home air conditioning?

Yes. All domestic air conditioning installations qualify for 0% VAT because the systems are classified as air source heat pumps under current UK government policy. This covers equipment, installation labour and materials.
