Climate control for Oh Wonder's timber-lined writing and recording studio, with no visible air-conditioning units, grilles or slots anywhere in the finished rooms.

The acoustic solution

The studio brings live drums, piano, microphones, reel-to-reel machines and outboard equipment into closely connected writing and recording spaces. That amount of heat-producing equipment required dependable cooling, but conventional wall units or visible ceiling slots would have interrupted both the room acoustics and the carefully detailed timber interior.

We concealed the complete ducted system within the building fabric and delivered the conditioned air through hidden routes, leaving no visible supply or return slots in the finished studio. Low air velocity, acoustic attenuation and isolated mechanical equipment keep the rooms draught-free and at NR20, so the system remains unnoticed during recording and critical listening.
